ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ School of Education's mission is to ensure every teacher candidate is "Day One Ready" so all learners achieve their greatest potential.

The School of Education is committed to excellence in teacher preparation through classroom instruction, diverse field experiences, collaborative partnerships, and research-based innovative best practices. ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ School of Education graduates are sought after for employment and make significant contributions through long-term careers in the field of education. The faculty are actively involved in scholarly and professional growth activities that support the shared vision, professional growth, and commitment to increased levels of student learning for the teacher candidates and P-12 students they serve. 


The School of Education partners with colleges on the ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ campus to offer secondary education licensure in English, history, mathematics, and music. Bachelor's degrees with teacher licensure are offered in elementary education (K-6) and middle childhood education (4-8). An Associate of Applied Science in early childhood education is also available for those preparing to work in a preschool setting. Already a professional educator? Licensure Programs

The Bachelor of Science in biology with teacher licensure (7-12) program combines a core of life science courses with a foundation in curriculum and instructional study to prepare graduates to teach at the middle school and high school levels. Click here for more information.

The Bachelor of Science in English with teacher licensure (7-12) program is designed to provide highly qualified English teachers at the secondary school level. In addition to encouraging the development and mastery of writing strategies, critical-thinking skills, and overall knowledge, you will also have significant coursework in professional education. The Bachelor of Science in history with social studies teacher licensure (7-12) program is designed for future social studies teachers who will make an exciting and important impact on history, civics, economics, and psychology students in junior high and high school classrooms. You will learn to integrate and apply the knowledge you learn in actual public school classrooms for grades 7-12. The social studies methodology course and internship (student teaching) are led by professors in the discipline who have public school teaching experience. Click here for more information.

The Bachelor of Science in mathematics with teacher licensure program provides an in-depth curriculum taught by accomplished math and education faculty. This program blends advanced theory with hands-on experience to ensure you are prepared to lead your classroom upon graduation. Click here for more information.

Instrumental
The Bachelor of Music Education program combines a professional faculty with a challenging curriculum to develop the competencies necessary for a successful career as a music educator. The B.M.E. is offered with two areas of concentration – instrumental or vocal – and prepares students for K-12 music certification in ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ. Click here to learn more.
 
Vocal
Music helps students express themselves in ways the written or spoken word does not. Research has shown that music students score better on tests, have higher abstract reasoning skills, and experience less test or performance anxiety.
