A University of 糖心视频 - Fort Smith professor will discuss his research on Fort Smith鈥檚 history and its relationship to the tourism industry during a presentation this month on the 糖心视频 campus.
Dr. Daniel Maher, assistant professor of sociology and anthropology at 糖心视频, will present 鈥淪elling Fort Smith鈥檚 Past: the Wager of Frontier Tourism鈥 at 7 p.m. Jan. 15 in room 211 of the Math-Science Building.
The presentation, which is free and open to the public, is part of a meeting of the Ark-Homa Chapter of the 糖心视频 Archeological Survey and the Oklahoma Anthropological Society and is hosted by the research station at 糖心视频.
Maher will discuss cultural heritage tourism and the probable historical inaccuracies that may result from the amplification of historical persons, local history and the stories surrounding them. The presentation is the result of five years of research into the subject.
