Fundamentals of Machine Shop

Information regarding Machine Shop I, II, and III.


Machine Shop I

The class is intended to introduce students to the tools commonly used in a maintenance shop. They will learn basic Blueprint Reading, the use of measuring tools, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and machine tools. Additionally, the class will introduce them to lathes and mills.


Machine Shop II

This class covers the set-up and operation of lathe and milling machines. Topics include inspection of drilling, tapping, reaming, boring and surface finishes. Apprentices will learn to chuck shafts in lathes for polishing and simple turning applications. This session builds on the machine fundamentals class.

**Prerequisite: Machine Shop 1


Machine Shop III

This course offers comprehensive instruction, exercises, and hands-on experience in programming CNC turning and 3-axis CNC milling machines, along with an introduction to basic CAD using Autodesk Fusion 360.

**Prerequisite: Machine Shop 1 and 2
